Capt. Jim Boltz

As a boat operator and charter Captain I have 3 main priorities.

IMG_6055.JPGMy number one priority is safety. I have accumulated over 35 years of experience as a military and commercial pilot, two jobs that have reinforced safety as the number one objective. I bring those same decision making skills with me in regards to how I operate the FLY’N FISH. However, safety is more than just decision making and problem solving; it includes running a well maintained and well equipped vessel. I am a US Coast Guard licensed Captain and am trained in first aid. I am also CPR qualified, and run a drug free vessel program for all crew members.

My next priority is to have fun. We enjoy interacting with our charter customers and we always aim to keep the atmosphere light and stress free.

Finally, we want you to catch fish. I have been salt water fishing for over 30 years and have been venturing to the deep sea fishing grounds for over 25 of those years. My crew and I possess the knowledge and experience to ensure you the highest probability of success when it comes to finding and catching the targeted species for your selected trip.

Capt. Jake Boltz

IMG_6442.jpgCapt. Jake has been around boats and saltwater fishing since the age of 2 and has been running offshore since the age of 7. He has taken my passion for fishing and supercharged it.

AS a teen he spent many summers mating on a number of charter boats out of Rudee Inlet and has competed in some of the biggest tournaments held in the mid-Atlantic, culminating with a First Place finish as Captain in the 2025 Ocean City Tuna Tournament. Jake was also a part of the team finishing in the money 3 out of the last 7 years in the VB Tuna Tournament. Jake is a graduate of JMU and he has earned the US Coast Guard’s 100 Ton Masters License and is also trained in first aid and CPR.

He subscribes to the same three values when it comes to operating a charter as I, do it safely while having fun and working hard to get our customers on the fish.

Mate Bill Woods

IMG_6441.JPGBill is not only our full time mate, he is a close friend of the family, having lived next door and fished as friends long before we started our charter business.

He is one of the best mates in Rudee Inlet. He is at the dock very early every morning preparing for every charter trip and is there long after our return cleaning and preparing for the next day.

He works long and hard and that work pays off with success on the ocean. Bill works primarily for tips so please compensate him accordingly.
